Oncology

Diagnosis and treatment of tumours are increasingly common within veterinary care.

Tumours affect our pets in the same way as they affect humans and they are more common in middle-aged and older animals. Oncology affects every system of organs and specialists from several different fields must cooperate to ensure adequate care. For example, both laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging may be necessary for a diagnosis. Today, there may be a variety of alternative treatments such as advanced surgery, radiotherapy and various medications as for example cytostatic drugs.

Collaboration and Expertise within AniCura

The treatment of tumorous diseases often requires specialist knowledge. Many prominent national and European specialists (Diplomates) with long experience in the field of oncology work within AniCura. They constitute well-established referral bodies in oncology as they, in addition to their expertise, also have access to advanced equipment at their animal hospitals.

The AniCura oncology interest group discusses current issues and sets common guidelines e.g. for treatment strategies. Veterinarians continuously share their knowledge within the network to enhance expertise within AniCura.
